To volunteer alone you must be 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18 years old you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Volunteers brush and groom cats, help with laundry, and other necessary daily tasks related to the care of our pets. Because of where we are located and for the safety of our pets, volunteers are not allowed to walk dogs. This Spring we are planning to fence in a park like area and training will become available to volunteers.
Use caution and contact a wildlife rehabilitator immediately. Stevens-Swan Humane Society does not handle any wildlife; we only deal with domesticated dogs and cats.

Stevens-Swan is a private organization that contracts with local municipalities to house their stray animals. Based on space availability and adoptability of the pet, it will be handled on a case by case basis.
Stevens-Swan is unable to offer any emergency veterinary care to the public, you must contact your local veterinarian. Stevens-Swan does offer low cost (income qualifying) spay/neutering and rabies clinics. Please see links for Spay/Neutering and Rabies Clinics.
You must be 21 years of age to adopt from our shelter.
Stevens-Swan Humane Society is looking for permanent homes only, we do not foster out animals because many people walk through our building on a daily basis and it gives potential adoptors the opportunity to see all available pets.
Stevens-Swan does not have a time limit for any animal. We only euthanize for severe aggression that endangers the welfare of our staff or extreme and untreatable medical issues.
Unfortunately, Stevens-Swan does not have the resources to pick up animals in the community or from your home. Stray dogs have to be picked up by an animal control officer or local law enforcement.
You must contact your local animal control officer or law enforcement. Stevens-Swan does not have a humane investigator or the ability to remove an animal from a home.
Steven-Swan cannot hold any animal. After submitting and adoption application, the pet will be held until your application is processed, pick up must be made upon approval.
Pit Bulls are an overbred breed of dog. Many people breed them for the wrong reasons. Many of our dogs come in as strays and are never claimed by their owner. After their holding time they are placed up for adoption.
